WELCOME TO ELBOW TREE!

Read on below and you can find all sorts of helpful information about how to get started with me. I've included a sampling of some of the common situations I work with, but it is not exhaustive. If you are experiencing something different than what you see there, get in touch. It's likely that I can help you too.

GETTING STARTED WITH ME:

Scheduling
I do all of my own scheduling. I have a variety of times available. The quickest and easiest way get an appointment with me is to schedule online. You'll be able to see my available slots and grab one for yourself, as well as leave me personal note if you wish. If you think there is something we need to discuss before you schedule, feel free to email, text or call. Once you schedule your appointment, you will receive both text and email confirmations of your scheduled appointment with links to your secure client portal.

Payment
The standard fee for all clients for a 50-minute session is $150. I accept cash, personal checks, debit cards, credit cards, and health savings account cards. All card charges will include a 3.5% processing fee. It is the policy of Elbow Tree that the session fee is to be paid prior to the end of each session.

Discounted Fees
Pre-paying for 8-10 sessions knocks 20% off of the hourly fee. 8 bundled sessions is $960 and 10 bundled sessions is $1200. Your bundle may be distributed among multiple family members
.

Insurance
If you have insurance, I can participate as an "Out of Network" provider. Serving you as an "Out of Network" provider means you pay my regular session fee, then I provide you with a receipt that has all the point-of-service information necessary for you to file and possibly get a rebate from your insurance company.

Forms
All intake forms must be completed online prior to your first appointment with me by completing online intake forms in your secure client portal.
Arrival
When you arrive to the Elbow Tree office in St. Augustine, pull in behind the building to find a parking spot. Enter through the rear door and make yourself at home. Relax in the waiting room until I come and get you. If its a couple minutes past the top of the hour, don't panic. I'll be out momentarily to greet you.

Cancellations
Please give me 24-hours notice if you need to cancel our appointment. Last minute cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full session fee unless it is a medical emergency.

UNDER THE CEDARS PODCAST
I love to sit at my picnic table in the shade underneath a canopy of eight cedar trees. While the world was quarantined, I decided to move my office outdoors where I could craft words that might do my own soul some good. Maybe they will help you as much as they are helping me.

A Little More About Me

Picture
I grew up surfing on the north Florida coast. After high school, I attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida where I studied English Lit and became involved in Young Life. When I graduated, I moved to south Florida to serve on the youth ministry staff at First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. The next 15 years of my life were dedicated to full time service in youth and family ministry within the context of Young Life and the local church.

In 2007, while serving on the youth ministry staff of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, I jumped into graduate school where I completed a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis on Spiritual Formation. Around that same time, my great friend, Greg Seymour, was birthing the prototype for Elbow Tree on the Southside of Chattanooga.

Prior to my move back to St. Augustine, I worked in private practice at Elbow Tree as a Marriage and Family Therapist for seven years while co-directing
The SoulCare Project, serving as the Director of Counseling and Care. Most of my role with The SoulCare Project was focused on designing and facilitating soul care retreats while also offering individual soul
care and spiritual direction to global missionaries, ministry leaders, artists, and marketplace leaders.

In July 2017, I launched Elbow Tree in St. Augustine, Florida. Currently, there are sixteen licensed and pre-licensed clinicians at Elbow Tree providing mental health counseling services for individuals, couples and families in four distinct locations; St. Augustine, Jacksonville Beach, Mandarin, and most recently in Silver Leaf on the brand new campus of Trinity Parish North.

In the fall of 2017, I also launched a spiritual care initiative called SELF & SOUL offering spiritual direction and individual soul care retreats.

In the summer of 2025, I will begin splitting more of my time between St. Augustine and Fort Lauderdale, managing all Elbow Tree operations from both north and South Florida. In August 2025, I will begin taking clients in Fort Lauderdale.

If I could play you a highlight reel of my personal life, it would be filled to the brim with adventures of pouring my life into my three children (now 19, 21, and 23 years old), surfing and traveling with close friends, reading and learning about the beauty and brokenness of the human experience, and my eyes being opened wide in wonder to the mysteries of God's unfolding goodness in my life.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any additIonal questions.

For your heart,
Hayne

The class provides an extensive understanding of firefighter culture, lingo, lifestyle and details about the unique stressors the job entails. This training includes both classroom and live scenarios, including wearing turnout gear, watching a live burn training scenario, visiting fire stations and interacting with firefighters all over the state of Florida, including a few who were first on the scene at the Pulse Nightclub and Parkland High School shootings.

Hayne is a professional member of FMHCA. The mission of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association is to advance the profession of clinical mental health  counseling through intentional and strength-based advocacy, networking, professional development, legislative efforts,  public education, and the promotion of positive mental health for our communities.

“Do not assume that he who seeks to comfort you now, lives untroubled among the simple and quiet words that sometimes do you good. His life may also have much sadness and difficulty, that remains far beyond yours. Were it otherwise, he would never have been able to find these words.” –Rainer Maria Rilke
