I'm so glad that you have taken the first step to seek counseling! It takes courage to walk into the unknown. I will walk alongside you in this process and I look forward to meeting you. Below you will find some helpful information, including a list of common reasons you may seek counseling and a little more about me and my credentials. GETTING STARTED WITH ME:
Scheduling
I do all of my own scheduling. I have a variety of times available. The quickest and easiest way get an appointment with me is to email or call. If you think there is something we need to discuss before you schedule, feel free to email, text or call. Once you schedule your appointment, you will receive both text and email confirmations of your scheduled appointment with links to your secure client portal also found at: kyla-salmond.clientsecure.me/.
Payment
The standard fee for all clients for a 50-minute session is $125. I accept cash, personal checks, debit cards, credit cards, and health savings account cards. All card charges will include a 3.5% processing fee. It is the policy of Elbow Tree that the session fee is to be paid prior to the end of each session.
Discounted Fees
Pre-paying for 8-10 sessions knocks 20% off of the hourly fee. 8 bundled sessions is $800 and 10 bundled sessions is $1000. Your bundle may be distributed among multiple family members. I do offer a sliding scale for any financial hardship. Please discuss this option with me in our initial session.
Insurance
I do not take any form of insurance other than the use of an HSA Card, but would be glad to make a helpful referral to another clinician locally who might be in a position to accommodate that for you. Other licensed clinicians at Elbow Tree are able to provide you with a receipt for you to submit or some amount of reimbursement from your health care provider.

When you arrive to the office in Saint Augustine, park anywhere and feel free to come on into the waiting area and find a cozy place to relax until our session begins. I will be out at the top of the hour to greet you, so don't worry if it's close the time we are supposed to meet and you have not seen me yet. I may be wrapping up a session just ahead of you. Also, feel free to use the restroom in the office prior to our session.

Please give me 24-hours notice if you need to cancel our appointment by calling or emailing me. Last minute cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full session fee unless it is a medical emergency.

I graduated from Northwest Christian College with my bachelor's degree in Psychology and obtained my masters degree from Colorado Christian University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
I am so glad that you have begun this journey to health and healing. I look forward to meeting you. As your counselor, I will walk alongside you, partnering with you and collaborating with you towards the goals that you set in counseling. I want to help draw out your strengths and focus on the resilience that is within you. I work with a variety of approaches including a person-centered approach and a strengths-based approach. I am also trained in EMDR which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. In addition, I am a National Certified Counselor and a Board Certified Coach. You and I will work together to determine the best modality for you. I have experience working with a variety of ages including elementary, middle and high school students as well as adults, couples and families. I am excited to get to know you and work with you.
